The Bridge
August 2025

Friends,
This time of year brings its own kind of chaos…
beautiful, unruly, and alive.
Shifts you didn’t see coming.
Moments you’re not sure how to hold.
A quiet invitation to dance with it all.
Clarity doesn’t come from pushing harder.
It comes from leaning in with curiosity,
and letting life reveal what it’s asking of you.
The Bridge is your monthly pause-point:
An insight.
A practice.
An expression.
And, if you’re called, ways to work together.
The bridge is here.
Let’s take the first step.
The Paradox of Knowing
We live in an age that worships expertise.
We’re told to master our craft, to have the answers.
But what if our knowing
is what blinds us?
Shunryu Suzuki wrote:
"In the beginner's mind, there are many possibilities, but in the expert's mind, there are few."
Yes, it’s been quoted into a cliché.
But stay with me.
Because staying clear in a season of change
isn’t about adding tools to your toolkit.
It’s about setting the toolkit down.
So as we cross into this next part of the month,
here’s an invitation:
Approach your biggest challenge
not as a problem to solve,
but as a koan to live.
The 3-Breath Reset
Before you:
Step into a meeting,
Start your car,
Open your laptop,
Pause for three conscious breaths:
Release what just was.
Arrive fully here.
Open to what wants to emerge.
Notice what shifts.
This isn’t meditation.
It’s a micro-dose of presence
that turns the ordinary
into a threshold.
And when we start noticing thresholds,
we start seeing how even the repeated,
the familiar,
can be revolutionary.
When Repetition Becomes Revolution
Andy Warhol paints 32 Campbell’s Soup Cans.
One for each flavor.
Critics are baffled.
Art? Anti-art?
But Warhol knew:
Repetition doesn’t strip meaning.
It reveals it.
The 15th can isn’t the same as the first.
Because you aren’t the same.
Through repetition,
The mundane becomes a mirror.
That’s beginner’s mind,
not chasing the exotic,
But finding the extraordinary
In what’s already here.
What in your life
is waiting to become extraordinary
through your attention?

A Closing Thought
The word amateur
comes from the Latin amator—lover.
The amateur creates for love,
not mastery.
What if this month
we became amateurs of life?
Lovers of what’s in front of us.
Not masters of what’s behind us.
The bridge between who you’ve been
and who you’re becoming
isn’t built with expertise.
It’s built with wonder.
